ATTORNEYS

 Lee Taylor Mercado is originally from
Marietta, Ohio.  She has made her home in
Florida since 1985.  She currently lives in
New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

 Ms. Mercado received a Bachelor of Arts
degree from Miami University (Ohio) in
1984, majoring in both Political Science and
Philosophy.  She received her Juris Doctor
degree from the University of Florida in
1994.  At the University of Florida School of
Law, Ms. Mercado was a Moot Court Team
member and she won the Best Brief award.

 After law school Ms. Mercado moved to
Central Florida and accepted a position with
the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit Public
Defender's Office.  There she worked in both
the Titusville and Sanford offices for nearly
twelve years, defending thousands of
accused persons and trying over 110 jury
trials.

 Since leaving the Office of the Pub
lic
Defender, Ms. Mercado founded the law firm
of Mercado & Berry, P.A. with Mira Berry.  In
addition to defending accused persons, Ms.
Mercado represents those who have family
law matters.


       Ms. Mercado is an active foster parent,
thus she understands the unique issues
and difficulties that children face during the
breakup of the family.


 Ms. Mercado is an active member in good
standing with the Florida Bar and the U.S.
District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

 

 Mira Berry has well over a decade of
experience in defending the rights of
criminally accused in Central Florida.  Ms.
Berry has represented thousands of clients
charged with every level and aspect of
crimes.

 Ms. Berry also practices in the area of
Family Law, focusing on protecting clients'
rights.

 Ms. Berry grew up in South Florida.  She
attended the University of Florida, earning a
Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Political
Science with a minor degree in English
Literature.  She then returned to South
Florida to obtain her Juris Doctor degree.  
While attending law school, she earned
distinction as a member of the Dean's List
and received the highest overall marks in
her classes in Trial Advocacy, Family Law
and in the Immigration Law Clinic.

 While in school and immediately following
graduation, she worked as a law clerk for a
South Florida law firm that specialized in all
areas of family law litigation.  She then
moved to Central Florida and began her
career in defending the rights of people
accused of criminal activity.  She worked for
nearly ten years at the Office of the Public
Defender where she represented thousands
of clients and nearly one hundred clients
during their jury trials in Seminole County
before becoming a founding partner in the
Law Offices of Mercado & Berry, P.A.

 Ms. Berry is admitted to practice in the
Florida State Courts and in the U.S. Middle
District of Florida, Federal Court system.
